the pedra de ferro mine project

This represents the most important iron ore mining project being developed in Bahia. In its planning, the mine includes ore extraction, beneficiation, and logistics solutions involving rail and sea transportation. At this time, operations are producing premium quality ore on a small scale, with high purity content (65% Fe), allowing us to reduce the CO2 emissions produced in the steelmaking process. Current production capacity can reach 2 million tons per year, with dry processing of Hematite – which does not generate tailings and does not use water during the process. BAMIN will invest heavily in a globally known Dry Stacking tailings filtering process, which will eliminate the need to use dams for the disposal of tailings that are produced by ore beneficiation, providing even greater safety for employees and local communities. The Pedra de Ferro Mine will become a reference point for technology and sustainability for the projects of the similar kind.

Ferrovia - FIOL

São três trechos da Ferrovia de Integração Oeste-Leste que farão ligação da cidade de Ilhéus (BA) a Figueirópolis (TO), totalizando uma distância de 1.527 km. O Trecho 1, conhecido como FIOL I (entre Caetité e Ilhéus), terá 537 km, foi adquirido em um leilão. A BAMIN assinou o contrato de concessão (35 anos) com o Governo Federal, em setembro de 2021. A FIOL I será construída em bitola larga (1,60 m) e passará por 19 municípios e deve movimentar até 60 milhões de toneladas por ano; 60% dessa capacidade será disponibilizada para outras mineradoras, agronegócio e demais setores. Esse trecho será um corredor logístico de integração e exportação muito importante para o país que possibilitará a integração e escoamento da produção de minérios, grãos, fertilizantes, entre outras cargas, contribuindo para a competitividade da Bahia e de estados vizinhos; já é um dos maiores projetos de infraestrutura em andamento no Brasil e o Ministério de Infraestrutura prevê que ele irá gerar 55 mil empregos diretos e indiretos. O Trecho 2 irá de Caetité a Barreiras (485 km) e o Trecho 3, de Barreiras a Figueirópolis (505 km). Ambos estão sob administração do Governo Federal.

the porto sul project

The construction of the Porto Sul forms a key tenet of BAMIN’s integrated logistics activities and will become on of the main import-export points in the region. The completion of a bridge connecting the BA-001 highway to the future industrial area of the port has advanced the access works and we expect that the port will enter operation in 2027, with a terminal physically and technologically structured to accommodate ships of up to 250 thousand tons. Although is the project is still under construction, BAMIN has already implemented, and continues to improve the socio-environmental management governing the venture, creating rigorous safety processes aligned with international ESG standards. The South Port already encompasses 34 programs, 11 of which address social issues and 21 of which serve to protect the environment. Among these actions, the CETRAS – Wild Animal Screening and Rehabilitation Center of the Porto Sul – built in 2018, has secured recognition for its important work monitoring and conserving wild flora and fauna.
